ABOUT
83Design aims for the kind of creative fun that makes everyone lean in closer, eager to see what’s next. We’re all about bringing people together to make something that we all find enjoyable. In this process, we never forget to keep a critical eye, but we also believe in having a good laugh and sharing ideas freely.
We’re on a mission to explore possibilities that you just can’t tackle alone. By working as one team, we hope to make everyone feel that creating with 83Design isn’t just fun; it’s an exciting journey we’re all on together.
Momentum Built on Hypothesis-Driven Thinking
At 83Design, we lead innovation through hypothetical thinking. Even when information and analysis are unclear, we continuously form hypotheses (abduction) and validate them by actively engaging both our minds and hands, striving to achieve innovation.
The abduction process at 83Design is characterized by its comprehensive and systematic expansion, logically converging towards highly accurate hypotheses. This process facilitates smooth consensus-building and communication with clients and team members.

WHAT WE GIVE

New Product Development
Providing technical support for the development of new products, including prototyping, testing, and preparation for mass production.

WHERE WE WALK AROUND
We accurately identify the “problems” embedded in projects, define opportunity areas, and repeatedly apply abduction, exploring usability and beauty to arrive at highly accurate hypotheses.
Visualizing Contours
Whether the “problem” is tangible or intangible, present or future, chaotic, unclear, or ambiguous, there is always a value area worth exploring—an opportunity area. We leverage perseverance, actionable thinking, tolerance, and creativity to visualize contours through the quality and quantity of ideas.

Exploring Usability and Beauty
We have persistently pursued usability and beauty. We continuously validate our ideas with a critical mindset, repeatedly exploring usability and beauty.

HOW WE BUILD
At 83Design, we use two abductive design methods: JUMP and STAIRS UP.
JUMP is a subjective approach based on designers’ intuition and insights from past projects.
STAIRS UP is a structural approach that systematically breaks down user challenges to uncover opportunities.
By combining intuitive, sharp hypotheses with logical validation through frameworks, we lead each project toward solutions that are both essential and practical—tailored to its context and phase.
JUMP
JUMP is a method for transforming assumptions and misconceptions—common preconceptions held by anyone—
into positive drivers, rapidly increasing specificity in a short period of time.

STAIRS UP
STAIRS UP is a method for carefully extracting essential elements and weaving them into actionable design solutions.
