How can we embody the abstract concept of “shared experience” envisioned by the pavilion into a device that anyone can pick up? What kind of existence should this “pebble” be\u2014not just an information terminal, but something that connects people to people, people to data, and amplifies the emotional impact of the experience?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We believed the key was to design the very act of “gripping,” which people do subconsciously. We eliminated artificial interactions to create a form that, like a natural object, fits smoothly into anyone’s hand and can be held in the correct orientation. We also opted for an organic light expression that glows with life from within, rather than the inorganic light typical of electronic devices. We considered that all elements appealing to the five senses\u2014form, light, and texture\u2014would determine the quality of the “shared experience.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through repeated research and validation with over 100 people, we arrived at a comfortable, asymmetrical shape that everyone can naturally hold in the correct orientation. We achieved this organic form while clearing the internal constraints of delicate electronic components and specific structural limitations. Furthermore, we worked closely with the manufacturing site to be meticulously particular about every detail, from developing a vibrant light expression that resonates with the pavilion’s message to creating a finish that has the unique texture of a natural object, with no two being exactly alike. An idea born from a product perspective enriched the experience itself, transcending the device to become a “mysterious pebble” that mediates the profound emotions of the pavilion.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
